On Sunday, January 9th, 2011, the first snow storm of the Winter season arrived in Hot Springs. Snow began falling around noon in the Whittington Valley and continued unabated through late evening. The National Weather Service estimated total snowfall in the area at about four inches. Five days later the snow had melted.
Then one month later to the day, on Wednesday February 9th, 2011 another snow storm hit Arkansas. Snow began in the early morning and came fast and furious through mid-afternoon. The National Weather Service reported that this later storm dumped about six inches of snow in Hot Springs and the Valley. But just four days later, thanks to warmer temperatures, all the snow had disappeared.
After each snowstorm, we ventured outside with our camera and took a few scenic pictures of the Valley.
