On Saturday, May 5th, 2012 the Whittington Valley Neighborhood Association held its 2012 Spring Potluck Picnic in Whittington City Park.  This annual event was aided by abundant shade to temper the unseasonably hot weather as temperatures hovered around 90 degrees.  More than thirty attendees enjoyed the opportunity to share good food and excellent company.  For the first time the picnic ran for three hours.  The Association provided hot dogs, hamburgers and drinks and many attendees brought a side dish or dessert to share with their neighbors.

Special thanks goes to WVNA Vice President John Lewis for working the barbecue grill yet again and for our friends over in the Park Avenue Community Association and the Valley's own Habitat developments who came and joined us.

The unseasonably warm weather (with temperatures at near 90 degrees) made it seem more like summer. The abundant smiles resulted from taking the photo after everyone had eaten.

Once again WVNA President Mark Toth insisted on using the picnic as an opportunity to display and sell the Association's fundraising greeting cards.

Association Vice-President
John Lewis again works the grill (as he has done for all our past picnics).  John proved once again that not only is he the master of the grill cooking-wise, he can also put on an exciting and entertaining live flame show too!

Association Vice-President John Lewis shows off his hair after his live barbeque "Flame Show."  Unlike at our previous barbeque, John's proved adept at dodging the roaring flames and this year he avoided setting his hair on fire.  After the picnic, John was scheduled to perform his "Flaming Show" at a staged Hawaiian luau across town, which explains his picnic attire.
